Team Bravo

Growing the next generation of Penetration Testers

We helped create a problem

For over a decade, Sentaris has been committed to hiring and developing Penetration Testers. Our Managing Director has been recruiting in this field since 2005, and one challenge has remained constant: finding professionals who combine technical excellence with the right cultural fit.

From the beginning, we set a high standard. We refused to dilute expertise by blending resources on engagements, and we would never misrepresent a senior consultant by substituting a junior. While this approach protected quality, it also created two challenges:

Skills Shortage

It contributed to the shortage of experienced Penetration Testers.

Higher Assurance Costs

It limited customers to engaging senior experts, even for low‑risk testing requirements.

To address this, we asked ourselves: How can we help grow new Penetration Testers without compromising quality? And how can we give customers more choice, aligned to both risk and budget?

Introducing Team Bravo

Team Bravo is a carefully selected group of Penetration Testers with at least one year of Web Application Penetration Testing experience. They demonstrate strong aptitude and sound methodologies, with their primary gap being limited industry experience. Under Sentaris’ guidance, these testers will continue to develop until they are ready to join Team Alpha—our team of senior and principal consultants.

By maintaining two distinct teams, we provide organisations with flexibility to match the level of tester to the risk profile of their application or system. This model enables customers to expand the scope of Penetration Testing across more systems each year, without increasing risk or budget.

Where Team Bravo Adds Value

Low risk internal systems

That remain unchanged but require routine testing.

Low risk external Systems

Such as informational websites without login or interactive elements

Alternating testing cycles

Where Team Bravo assesses stable applications every second year, while Team Alpha handles new functionality or higher‑risk releases.

Retesting

Where Team Alpha have performed a Penetration Test and assurance is required to ensure remediation has been effective.

Where team Bravo is not suitable

High risk applications

This includes eCommerce, banking, or systems holding PHI.

PCI compliance or ISO 27001 testing

Auditors expect a level of seniority and experience when compliance testing is performed.

Red or Purple Teaming engagements

These engagements require significant levels of experience in order to quickly adapt to the unknown situations they may face.

Non web applications

Our Team Bravo is expected to perform Web Application and API testing to a high standard before they start learning other systems.
